Honorary Consul
Ileana Adriana Rutman
Ileana A. Rutman is the Honorary Consul of Romania in Latvia since 2012. Nevertheless Ms. Rutman has actively promoted ties between Romania and Latvia since the very establishment of the Honorary Consulate in 2002 when she started to serve as Vice Honorary Consul.
On September 8, 2014 by a Presidential Decree Ms. Rutman was awarded Romanian National Order “For Merit” – Officer Rank, as a sign of appreciation for her personal contribution taken over time in consolidation and development of bilateral relations between Romania and Latvia.
Besides representing Romania in Latvia, Ms. Rutman is the co-founder of “DAN Communications”, an IT company that is active and has local presence in all three Baltic States. Previously she was also the owner and co-founder of “Unistars” company, a telecommunications operator.
Ms. Rutman was born in Bucharest, Romania. Later on in her life she moved to Israel, where her most prominent professional experience was with Bezeq, the leading telecommunications company in Israel at that time. In 1997 she joined her late husband Mr. Alexandrs Rutmanis in relocating to Latvia.
Ms. Rutman is an alumni of the Cybernetics Faculty at the Academy of Economical Science in Bucharest, Romania. She continued her professional development throughout her life by attending courses at IBM Israel, SNA and IP, Marketing courses at RISEBA and EU law and Strategic Management Program at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.
Ileana A. Rutman constantly supports various charity events in Latvia for the benefits of children, as well as sponsors different art events (music festivals, like “Inese Galante and friends”, “Artissimo”, etc.). From 2004 until 2006 she was Member of the Board of the International School of Latvia.
Ms. Rutman is fluent in Romanian, English, German, Hebrew, Latvian. She also speaks Russian and French.
